Quick Tips on Poker Player Types

Although poker is situational game in which any poker online player can play any cards any way they want, most players fit into certain categories of play that make them more predictable. Whether you are playing online poker or in a live poker room, look for these characteristics and react accordingly: * Tight rocks – these are the players who only play premium hands. If they enter a pot, they’ve got the goods. They are also likely to fold to a pre-flop raise unless they are holding a made pair or monster cards. You can chase the Rocks off a pot with a raise, and bluff them when scare cards materialize. * Weak passive – these are “calling stations” who call a lot of bets but rarely raise the pot themselves. Don’t attempt to bluff these types since they call with anything. Instead, wait for a good made hand and make minimum bets to keep them contributing to the pot. * Loose aggressive – these are the most dangerous poker players since they play unpredictably. You can never be sure what cards they are playing, when they are bluffing or when they have the nuts. Avoid going up against a loose aggressive unless you’ve got monster cards, then let the loose player do the betting and raising for you.
