Health and Body Toxicity
What the body construes as a toxic substance can be one of two kinds exotoxins (toxins that come from outside the body) or endotoxins (toxins that are produced within the body).
An exotoxin is typically any one of tens of thousands of agricultural, industrial or household chemicals that we’re exposed to in our everyday life. To some point, we are able to control and limit our exposure to these types of toxic chemicals. The brands of household products and produce we purchase is one domain of our life where we can be in almost full control. Recently, more shops are offering good quality cleaning and health care products that are toxin-free.
Endotoxins are more tricky to control. Endotoxins are the by-products of our body’s normal metabolic processes. An endotoxin can be a bacterial waste product, anti-bodies our body makes to fend off infection or disease, any of the many hormones in our body and cellular material whose biochemical component parts must be eliminated.
Many who live in modern societies today suffer from some amount of toxic deluge. Although our body is fit to perform the filtering and excretion of endotoxins, the body is increasingly unable to deal with the rising quantity of exotoxins that we absorb through our food, beverages, air, household products and personal care products.
Despite our most enthusiastic attempt to avoid environmental toxins, our power to do so is very problematical. The truth is, our bodies are simply exposed to an overwhelming number and diversity of chemicals that are totally foreign, if not very harmful, to our body. Simplistic ways we can reduce our exposure to toxins is to purchase 100% natural health care and cleaning products, and to always purchase organic produce when accessible.
As well as reducing our exposure to dietary and environmental toxins, there is a lot we can do to help the body’s innate detoxification processes. Doing a monthly body detox program will purify your body and do much to minimize the chemical burden on your body.
