Bad Beat or Bad Play?

It’s so easy to blame it on the cards. You play a hand you’d expected to win and end up having that hand taken away from you by a seemingly unfortunate turn of events, and quickly you can find yourself on tilt and cursing, though in many cases it is just as much the fault of the online poker player as it is the cruel hand of fate that sews the end.

Griping about a bad beat really isn’t going to get you anywhere, and more important than griping is being honest with yourself as an online poker player. Did you really need to go broke on that hand? Was it really the best move to call your whole stack off with JJ preflop when you knew you were going to be at least up against AK, if not against a bigger pair?

Often, those who can minimize the amount of gambling in a given hand and instead manipulate themselves into situations where they know more of what has been defined are those that will have greater control over their hand by hand destiny. Learn to be honest with yourself. Running blindly forward blaming the dealer and the deck for situations you could have minimized on your own time is not only foolish, it is a quick way to lose more and more of your bankroll, making excuses all the way down. Keep this in mind when you play poker online.
