The Glass Is Half Full!

People get frustrated when they finally get the big hand that they’ve been waiting in online poker for and no one calls them at the casino. You fold hand after hand, and when you get your pocket Aces, no one wants to call. It can be a bit annoying to take down a small pot with a big hand, but consider this-if you’re never called, you’ll never lose.

Those Aces aren’t what scared everyone off, because no one knew what your poker cards were. You could just as easily won that hand with a 7-2 off-suit. Figure out what it was that made everyone else at that table quit the hand, and you’ll have a leg up on your opposition.

And if you’re still mad about winning the small pot, think about it-it’s better to win small pots than to lose big ones. Especially in a tournament, where survival is the key to winning. You don’t want to blow the competition away by taking huge risks all tournament long, you want to stay in the game and let those small wins accumulate into a monster stack. If you insist on going all-in all the time, you’re eventually going to get called and knocked out. If you keep winning uncontested pots, you’ll stay alive long enough to become a force to reckon with.
