Operators employ 3G to channel data usage

As mobile operators experience difficulties with meeting consumer demand, 3G presents itself as the only accommodating technology for mobile broadband connections. With bandwidth increasing and connection outlays falling, operators of taking advantage of this expedient technology.

Due to their functionality, 3G broadband compatible laptops will likely grow popular, possibly in the near future. According to Sierra Wireless, no technology poses even a relative threat to 3G, as these structures neither are nor supported by consumer demands.

As one of the contending mobile technologies, WiMax was recently backed by Intel, the industrial computing giant. Even still, the wireless technology displays little promise as a potential standard.

The 3G technology also shows potential in other mobile devices. While these devices are often overpriced, consumers are attracted to the significant capacity which it provides. Especially growing popular for use with mobile workers and field engineers, the module implements an expedient means of communication.

Currently, the industry is working to deploy 3G networks across the whole population. With these developments, the market is growing rapidly, and with it, compatible systems. In 2007 alone, Sierra Wireless recorded sales of a million and a half compatible laptops, and expects more in 2008.

While planning to access higher channels of bandwidth, operators are consistently working to provide users with full capabilities.
